Public Realm
Spinningfields is defined by the quality and scale of its public spaces. This public realm consists of a series of urban spaces made up of contemporary piazzas, boulevards and streets to compare with the best in other European cities.
Each of Spinningfields’ five new public squares has been carefully considered so it forms a robust, coherent unit within the public realm masterplan. Paving materials are drawn from a limited palette of carefully considered, natural stones inset with metal. All materials are selected to maximise their longevity while minimising maintenance. Lighting is a key element and lends a distinct character to each of the main public spaces.
Proposals have also been developed for the provision of a number of world-class pieces of contemporary public art throughout the development. These artworks, combined with a bespoke system of wayfinding and signage points, will help to provide intuitive navigation and drama.
